NordVPN is a Panama-based VPN service provider that’s been in business since 2008. Because it’s based in an independent country, it has one of the best-known no-logs policies on the market.

NordVPN is what many consider to be the best performing VPN, and is tailor-made for streaming, accessing geo-blocked content, and torrenting. The company maintains a large server network of over 5,200 servers that are built on OpenVPN protocol and have AES 256-bit encryption. What’s more, new servers are constantly being added.

NordVPN features

NordVPN scores above its competition with advanced leak protection, obfuscation to defeat VPN blocks, double data encryption, and automatic kill switch. And unlike many of its competitors, a free 3-day trial is available, which doesn’t require payment details.  So users can truly “try before they buy.”

NordVPN also ensures comprehensive protection to Android and iOS devices through its secure apps, which ensures no application can access the Internet outside the VPN tunnel itself. And in terms of multi-platform compatibility, NordVPN provides dedicated applications and detailed tutorials for Windows, Mac OS, iOS, and Android platforms.

NordVPN pricing

NordVPN offers four different pricing plans:

  • $11.95/month for 1 month (billed monthly)
  • $6.99/month for 1 year (billed at $83.88 annually)
  • $3.99/month for 2 years (billed at $95.75 every 2 years)
  • $2.99/month for 3 years (billed at $107.55 every 3 years)

All price plans also come with a 30-day money-back guarantee.

NordVPN customer support

NordVPN offers customer support through email, as well as live chat that’s available 24/7.  Email response times are typically quick and the responses themselves thorough. There’s a large knowledge base full of articles and tutorials for troubleshooting purposes as well.  Unfortunately, however, there’s no phone-based customer service. Businesses hoping to avoid live chat support for anonymity reasons should be mindful of this, and business owners who aren’t technically savvy may find this to be an inconvenience.

What’s lacking

Although NordVPN is a feature-packed service with impeccable performance, it still lacks certain features that may be a deal breaker to business owners depending on the specific need.  Case in point is that there’s no Linux support, and only 2 simultaneous connections can be supported at a time.

A majority of NordVPN’s servers are clustered in Europe, which means connection speeds will be slower for a business located in South-East Asia than one based in Europe. It also fails to provide session-specific information to track network statistics, and there’s no option to block ad trackers.
