ADT is one of the most well-known security system providers around. They have established themselves as one of the leaders in the business security system market because of their long-standing offerings, advanced features and quality customer service. To get all of this, though, you do have to pony up a higher price than some of their competitors. Still, some businesses are OK paying the higher price for one of the top names in the business.
Quality and warranty
ADT’s equipment is considered more reliable by many of their customers than some other companies in the business security market. ADT’s system is hardwired, which means it does not run on battery power. This provides an extra level of security for your business.
ADT offers a guarantee on their products if they are unable to fix any concerns with installation or services for up to six months following the installation.
ADT offers all the basics of business security monitoring such as a control panel, motion sensors, door sensors, glass break sensors and an emergency button to set off the alarm manually when the system is unarmed. ADT takes business security one step further, offering a monitored entrance system for employees using a fob on a keychain. This system will also give you a log of who entered your facility and when.
There are also other add-ons you can choose to your ADT system, including accessories for purchase, yard signs, extra sirens and keychain remotes.
ADT doesn’t publish the pricing of their hardware online. The company forces you to set up an appointment with one of their representatives, who will provide you a custom quote to set up your hardware and handle your monthly monitoring.
Generally speaking, though, ADT’s hardware will cost at least $400, but it can get much more expensive than that based on the products, accessories and features you choose, as well as the physical size of your business. Monthly monitoring comes in at $57.99 per month, and you must sign a three-year contract as well. The monitoring also comes with an early cancellation fee of 90 percent.
They do offer a Quality Service Plan where the system hardware will remain the property of ADT while you pay a monthly fee to lease it. To be eligible, you will have to pass a credit history check, and you may be required to make a security deposit.
One of the best aspects of ADT is the company provides 24/7 customer support by phone, email and live chat. This is a great benefit of doing business with ADT, as businesses often need support before or after normal business hours. This gives ADT’s customers some extra peace of mind with their business security system.
ADT installs the entire system for you, which is good on one hand because you don’t have to worry about it, but bad on the other hand because it comes with a $399 fee. In addition, any repairs or updates to the system must be made by ADT. While the installation process is about as easy as it can get for the customer, the added cost of doing this might not be as attractive.
Things to consider
Some ADT customers said they did not like the fact that there are a lot of hidden fees with ADT, such as extra costs for moving and the expensive early-termination fee. One thing to keep in mind with ADT is that you certainly will pay for the reliability and advanced technology features that come with the name of the company and its associated reputation.
